If You want to replace the pattern across multiple directories, you can make use of the “find” command. With “find”, you can locate any file with a specific pattern across multiple subdirectories. For example, to locate all files containing the pattern “foo”, you can use the following command:
find / -name “*foo*”
This command will traverse through the complete filesystem, starting from root (/) and listing all files with the pattern “foo” in their name. You can then apply sed command on these files to perform replacement.
These tools will help you effectively replace any code across all necessary directories without the need to manually search through each directory. This makes operations smoother and more efficient.
Apart from this, you can also backup your directory structure before performing such a comprehensive replacement. This will ensure that you have a working version of the directory structure before changes are made. To take a backup of your directory structure, you can use the “tar” command. This command will create an archive file that contains everything inside a specified directory path.
In order to take a backup of the directory structure, use the following command:
tar -cf mybackup.tar /path/to/directory
This command will create an archive file named mybackup.tar of the content of the specified directory. With this backup available, you can safely and securely make changes to your directory structure.
By making use of commands such as sed and tar, you can perform a comprehensive replacement of codes across all necessary paths and directories. This will help you operate more smoothly and efficiently.
